| 2005 isn't just Godzilla's 50th Birthday, it's also the Golden Anniversary of Tetsujin-28, better known in America as Gigantor. Just as Godzilla was the first of Japan's giant monsters, Tetsujin-28 was the first of Japan's giant robots, and Toho studios is celebrating by unveiling a live-action TETSUJIN-28 movie. A throwback to a time when families stuck together, and giant fighting robots didn't need any super-weapons, just their own two fists and a heart of gold, Tetsujin-28 is a breath of fresh air: a movie intended for kids that still manages to awe adults with its optimism and good-looking scenes of two giant robots slugging it out in the heart of downtown Tokyo. |
