LOVE TO KILL (Hong Kong, 1993)
Directed by: Billy Chung
Starring: Anthony Wong, Danny Lee, Elizabeth Lee

Category III is the Hong Kong ratings equivalent of an NC-17 and when this rating first appeared in 1989 it unleashed a host of insane-o-vision horror movies, most famously The Untold Story, a true crime tale of a cannibalistic restaurant owner, played by Anthony Wong (winning him “Best Actor” at the Hong Kong Film Awards). Six months later, the stars of Untold Story teamed up for  Love to Kill. Sam (Wong), is a psycho husband who is probably going to murder his wife, Jade (Elizabeth Lee), any minute. One night she runs away and goes into hiding, protected by a lunkheaded cop (Danny Lee). Anthony Wong tears the city apart to find her, and when he does, it’s abused wife versus psycho husband — to the death. Beautifully brutal, surprisingly effective, and scored with a heavy duty Eighties synthesizer of doom, this one leaves a mark.
